Speaking Topics
- Turning Lemons Into Lemonade
We’ve all made plans for the future, but what happens when God decides to change those plans in a major way? How do you react? What do you do? In this workshop, Dr. Tristan Perry intimately reveals how God changed her life through a crisis of infertility and how she eventually turned turmoil into triumph. Principles of how to move past life’s hurts and disappointments will be shared with the audience that relate to infertility and other broader issues. Dr. Perry strongly feels her spiritual gift is encouragement. She prays that those ladies will leave her workshop feeling refreshed and hopeful about the future.
- Setting Out Your Fleece
Lee Roberts, Tristan's dad, is a brave cancer survivor--twice! At a tender and impressionable age, Tristan's life and her family became forever changed by cancer. Sharing an unbelievable story of how God proved himself faithful by giving a sign to a high-school junior, Tristan shares quite a compelling testimony of a young girl's developing faith and how it affected her walk with Christ as a grown woman years later. What can we learn from Gideon, that great Biblical warrior? How can a modern day person identify with the ancient legend of Gideon? This story will uplift and renew other's faith, giving a new perspective on life before, during, and after cancer--or any crisis for that matter.
- A Fashionable Spirit
Taking her love of fashion, make-up, and jewelry to an all new level, Tristan challenges and inspires women to dress their spirit with the same care as their body. What does the Bible say on the topic of style and the current fashion trends? Tristan addresses this in quite a humorous way that women can certainly identify with and apply to their own life and wardrobe! This unique topic is one to be long-remembered by audiences. Tristan has given this talk at Mother's Day events, but it is also apropos for luncheons and other woman-related events/holidays and conferences.
- Are You Seeing Stars?
Although a joyous time of year, Christmas can be a stressful time, especially for women. But it doesn't have to be that way! During this presentation, Tristan uses humor and uplifting personal accounts about how to make the most of the holidays. She offers wisdom that is Biblically sound on how to approach, enjoy, and reflect on the Star of Bethlehem and the holiday season. This topic is great for breakfasts or luncheon events.
- Spacious Places
Tristan's message is one of expectancy and healing. She speaks candidly about how others can healthily incorporate past hurts, griefs, and disappointments in order to transition into a life of abundant joy and peace. This is a message of restoration with oneself, God, and others.
- Life Stories
Tristan speaks on various topics that have happened in her life. From learning a valuable lesson in geometry from her mother to patriotism in her family, variety is the spice of life! The audience will take away valuable insight and tools to apply to their own particular set of circumstances, perhaps even learning new lessons from a long-ago experience in their past.
- Why Do Hummingbirds Squabble?
Just like the amazing hummingbird, families and friends argue. Why do we do this? Really? Why do well-intentioned Christians and family members fuss? More importantly, how can we get past the hurts and get along? Drawing upon personal and professional nursing experience, Tristan offers humorous and not-so-humorous stories to teach listeners how to gently restore (or confront! Oh, my!), cope, and connect with others in Christian sincerity.
- Just For Kids: Furry Tails
The fur flies when Tristan reads from her children's book series, "Furry Tails"! A typical presentation is one hour long and includes a chapter reading from the books that started Tristan's writing career, Furry Tails. Nutmeg and Mocha, Tristan's toy-sized poodles, make their own special appearances at the end. They love meeting and greeting fans. It's fun! It's entertaining! This is for kids and the kid-at-heart! To learn more about Furry Tails, visit the Furry Tails book portal.
- Pet Therapy
Pets are a blessing from the Creator. A mother of two toy poodles herself, Tristan has escorted Nutmeg and Mocha on their patient visits. As an advanced-degree RN, Dr. Perry has witnessed first-hand the beneficial effects pet visits have on patient outcomes. News channel WDBJ-7 out of Roanoke interviewed Dr. Perry about pet therapy and its application to client care. This topic is helpful for health care providers, as well as those who minister to the community using furry sidekicks.
- CRNAs and Job-related Stress
Dr. Perry's dissertation studies at Virginia Tech entailed CRNAs and perceived job-related stressors, coping mechanisms, and its effects upon work relationships. The Journal of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists published an abbreviated version of Dr. Perry's work, which is one of rare qualitative inquiry. Dr. Perry's appreciates being able to present her research, whether at conferences, hospitals, or universities. In February 2008, the German publisher, VDM Verlag Dr. Mueller, published Dr. Perry's work as a textbook.
- Tristan Plays Piano!
Whenever appropriate and feasible, Tristan employs her gift of piano playing into her speaking presentations. She has served as pianist at several churches throughout her life, has taught piano privately, and has played at weddings. Music is very much a part of Tristan's life. She feels God uses music to convict, praise, and heal. Should you wish for Tristan to supplement her speaking with music, please mention this at the time of booking. Tristan is classically and gospel music trained. If enough time is provided, she is happy to take requests.
